My name is Zahraa Issawi, a self-taught artist based in Sydney. My journey with art began in my teenage years, sketching simple cartoon characters just for fun. After stepping away from drawing for many years, I eventually found my way back — this time with a deeper purpose and passion.
My art now focuses on portrait sketches and Islamic artworks, especially pieces that reflect Shia themes and spiritual expression. I love experimenting with different mediums such as charcoal, acrylic, oil, and watercolour, allowing each piece to take on its own life and emotion.
Over time, I’ve been proud to see my work displayed at an art centre, where I’ve also participated in an auction and sold several of my paintings. I regularly share my latest creations on Instagram and take custom orders for those who wish to bring a personal touch of art into their spaces.
For me, art is more than a skill — it’s a heartfelt journey of rediscovery, faith, and connection. Every brushstroke tells a story of growth, reflection, and beauty found in both simplicity and devotion
