
Ali Hammoud

Ali Hammoud is a PhD candidate at Western Sydney University. His research interests broadly cover Shīʿīsm, Persian poetry, and Islamicate intellectual history. His doctoral project examines debates on Sufism in late 17th century Safavid Persia. Ali is currently part of a book project that is providing the first complete translation of ‘Aṭṭār’s Mosibatnameh in English, under contract with Paulist Press.
Alongside his academic work, he has also published widely in media outlets such as the Guardian, Mondoweiss, and the Conversation. In addition to these publications, he also runs a Substack titled Numinous where he shares reflections, essays, and original translations from the world of Persian poetry.
